MARIA PILOTTO
Maria Pilotto (Padova 1996) graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice.
The pictorial research focuses on the family environment and intimacy. Retrieving old family photos, she tries to rediscover her origins (of Syrian mother) and those places so far away. People, clothes, food, traditions that belonged to another time. The face is never painted and helps the viewer to question himself and, at the same time, recognizing himself there; it might look like any family photo.
Often the titles of the artworks recall distant lands; they have the name of some cities, of traditions. Much often these figures have bright clothes or wear disguises. The engraving allows to return to the dimension of memory thanks to its reproducibility and, in doing so, we return to photography.
